Today we were assessed for the delivery of Basic Skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing, Mathematics and IT). This is a national award that is renewed every three years. It is externally assessed by an accredited assessor. The assessor spoke to Mrs. Starkey (Head Teacher), Mrs. Reichinger (Curriculum, Assessment, Phonics), Mrs Limbert (Maths Lead), Mrs. Thomas (English Lead) and Miss. Palmer (SENCO) about current work, data and developments in these subjects. She also spoke to children, a parent and a member of the governing body. She visited every classroom, looking at displays and provision across the school. She spoke to children and observed them in lessons. There was a book scrutiny as well as discussion of policies, procedures, interventions and transition procedures.
This was a thorough review of provision and we are delighted to receive the Basic Skills Quality Mark for the fifth time.
