Today 5 of our Year 2 children took part in a city wide Dragon's Den style competition. Over the past couple of weeks the children have worked hard planning, designing and making a game to help promote positive attitudes towards maths. The children's game was called 'Fast Food Wars'. It was based on the traditional battleships game and involved sinking items of fast food.
The children were shortlisted from around 38 primary and secondary schools in the city. Today they willingly gave up their school trip and went to present their game to a panel of 4 'Dragons' and the other 15 shortlisted schools. The children were AMAZING!!! When presenting their game the children were confident, professional and very enthusiastic. They answered questions from the panel and then explained their game to the other schools. They had opportunity to play and discuss the games and apps the other schools had also made.
The final result at the end of the day was - WE WON!!!
We were overall winners on the day and received a £1000 cheque to spend on maths resources in school.
We were all so proud of the children they were a credit to the school.
