As a School of Sanctuary we offer a safe and welcoming place for all. We are fully inclusive and celebrate diversity. On this page we will include resources to support families in helping their children to understand that we are all different, we are all unique and that this is to be embraced and celebrated. We love to find out about everyone's different skills, interests, abilities and unique characteristics. We love to learn from each other about the different heritage of all children, staff, families and visitors to our school.
The Lead for School of Sanctuary and EAL (English as an Additional Language) is Mrs Blackburn. She organises meetings and offers support to families with English as an additional language. We hold a meeting (either in person or virtual) for families with EAL at the start of the school year and any parents/carers/families who need further support can make an appointment to speak with Mrs. Blackburn. We also ensure that books and resources reflect the diverse society we live in. Mrs Blackburn runs an International Club after school which focuses on learning about and celebrating different cultures.
With such young children, we are in a privileged position in helping them to shape their view of the world and of each other. We take our responsibility seriously and ask all of our families to do the same. We encourage children to be open and curious. we encourage them to ask questions with respect. We encourage all in our school to be welcoming.
